Who We Are

Artist Statement

We are Cindy Blue. We design one-of-a-kind denim jackets that are customized with recycled fabrics and re-used materials.  Each jacket is unique, with only one piece per design sold on a first come first served basis. You can either buy a jacket that is ready-to-wear or bring your own and we will decorate it for you.

The denim jacket is an iconic and timeless garment; from the cowboys and miners of 1880’s America, to the hippy counterculture movements of the 60’s, the British skinheads in the 70’s, to punk, hip-hop and everything in between, the denim jacket has become a symbol of expression, freedom and rebellion. Our jackets have their own story to tell, and it is one of change.

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. It produces 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions, it is the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply and it is one of the most labour-intensive industries with modern day slavery conditions imposed on millions of garment workers. We love fashion, but we do not want our clothes to exploit people or destroy our planet. We want change. We strive for a fashion revolution.

Making a conscious decision to shop from sustainable and ethical brands can and will make a difference to the planet and its people. We say NO to mass-produced clothing and YES to remade, reworked, upcycled. By shopping from conscious and eco-friendly brands, you are ensuring that the clothing you choose to spend your money on has not taken advantage of workers or child labour, while diminishing your environmental footprint.

The Cindy Blue customer is brave, creative and uses their clothes as a means of self-expression. We want you to curate your own personal style, say goodbye to money-wasting fast fashion trends and wear clothes that reflect YOU. Ultimately, we want our customers to know that our aim is to create a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with our clothes while caring about the story and the process of how this clothing has been made. As Elizabeth Cline writes, “Style is a worthy, beautiful, and deeply human pastime. We just need to change the way we go about it”.
